About BBA
The BAC Beatbox Academy is a weekly drop-in session on Thursdays 6 – 8pm, for young people of all abilities and experience with an interest in music to jam together, improve their beatbox and vocal skills, and make their own music – from hip hop and grime to R&B and dubstep.
The BAC Beatbox Academy has been running for 15 years (est. 2008) and is led by hip-hop theatre practitioner and artistic director Conrad Murray, who is a theatre maker, director, singer, beatboxer, and loop artist. The weekly group is also co-facilitated by other professional performers with years of experience in performance and vocal arts.
BBA Projects Past and Present
Many of the young people who have come though the BAC Beatbox Academy are now successful artists, using the skills gained through the academy to generate income, and be leaders in their community.
The BAC Beatbox Academy participants have been able to work with such organisations as Sky, BBC, Stink Films, Roundhouse, Edinburgh Fringe, Edinburgh International Festival, Latitude Festival, Strike-A-Light, ITV and many more.
