A Victorian town hall, with a large organ on the far balcony and a modern lattice-wood ceiling

The Grand Hall

Since reopening for business in March 2019, our Grand Hall has played host to the BBC Proms, the Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY AW20 Show, Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year and countless weddings, parties, dinners and award ceremonies.

A party of people in the octagonal hall, a room with arches supported by marble pillars, a classical style statue in the left hand corner, and a stained glass domed ceiling. There is a table of filled champagne flutes on the right

Boasting its own private entrance, guests arrive into the stunning Octagonal Hall, with mosaic floor and stained glass-domed ceiling making for an impressive start to any event. Guests journey through the evocative corridors running alongside the Grand Hall  before stepping out into the hall itself.

Our grand hall, a room with an intricate wood panelled ceiling, arches above distressed plaster walls, and a wooden floor. It is empty except for Mo, the custodian, a woman sitting in the left hand corner

The Grand Hall, beautifully restored following a devastating fire in 2015, is an event space unlike any other. With potential to hold from 100 to 800 guests in a variety of formats, the Grand Hall is as functional as it is unique.

The stunning lattice ceiling, hiding an advanced technical infrastructure, and remaining original features from its rich 125 year history make it ideal for hosting events that push boundaries.

Large windows surrounding the hall allow natural daylight to flood in or clients can opt to use our blackout blinds and create their own stunning lighting effect within the space.

An above view of a wedding spread of food on a round white decorated table. There is a white rose centre piece surrounded by white candles in glass vases. Two bottles of wine can be seen in a silver cooler and a basket of different varieties of breads and dips. There is also a colourful salad and skewers.

Alongside the Grand Hall and Octagonal Hall, event guests can also make use of the dedicated bar space, recently redesigned by artist Jake Tilson. The space also has its own private kitchen where, led by Head Chef Nigel James, our experienced in-house catering team can cook up an array of culinary delights, from canapes to bowl food, from finger buffets to sit-down banquets.

Every event in the Grand Hall is looked after by our team of event and catering professionals who are always on hand to provide a personable and professional service.
