Learning disabled and autistic voices continue to be left out of leadership positions in the Cultural sector and are often blocked from changemaking roles in the arts.

On March 10th, we’ll be talking about how to change this, and we want you to join the conversation. This event will be held in-person and livestreamed. Tickets to both the event and the livestream are available here.

Led by nine learning disabled creatives – alumni of our Transforming Leadership programme – Access All Areas and Disability Arts Online will share our “How to” guide on inclusive leadership.

Over the last two years of the training programme the leaders have developed skills in directing, chairing boards and digital influencing.

This session will be action focused and targeted at existing leaders and changemaking organisations in the arts. We’ll share what we did in our 2-year Transforming Leadership programme, and explore practical solutions for you to take to your organisation.

The landscape of our arts is changing. As the sector recovers from the pandemic, and organisations enter new funding cycles, it is essential that we create accessible employment and leadership structures, so that learning disabled and autistic voices have a place at the heart of our cultural recovery.

The event will be captioned and BSL interpreted, both in person and on the livestream.

Transforming Leadership was created by Access All Areas, in partnership with Disability Arts Online and Manchester Metropolitan University, supported by Battersea Arts Centre.

IN PERSON EVENT INFORMATION

This event takes place in person in our Council Chamber. This space is on the first floor, with step-free access available via a lift.

If you have booked a ticket you will receive an email from us before your performance detailing important information about your visit. If you would like to read about our current COVID safety measures in place, you can find out more about what to expect here.

PERSONAL ASSISTANT/COMPANION TICKETS

If you require the assistance of a friend or helper to attend, we can make a free ticket available for your companion. You can book access companion tickets online or contact the Box Office to book by emailing access@bac.org.uk. 

To book a free access companion online:

  • log in to your account here
  • go to ‘Other preferences’ and tick ‘I require a personal assistant/companion’.
  • Choose the performance, date and seats you would like and if you add at least 2 tickets to your basket, then one of these will automatically become free.

This event will be Relaxed. We invite you to make yourself comfortable and move around if you need to and if you need to leave the performance at any point you will be allowed to return to the space when you feel ready.

We encourage all audience members to wear a mask whilst sat in performance spaces and when moving around our building (unless you’re exempt).
We have a limited number of socially distanced performances for most shows, so you can choose when you feel most comfortable attending.
