This performance is Pay What You Can.

A rhythmic, fiercely energetic and exhilarating performance from celebrated choreographer Hofesh Shechter and his award winning company Shechter II.

Contemporary Dance 2.0 unleashes the intensity of Shechters signature ensemble work combined with an eclectic sound score with euphoric feel and throbbing beats.

In a work that is dipped in ironic references to pop culture and making a playful take on Shechters own art form, in Contemporary Dance 2.0 only one thing is certain, the dancers do it their way.

Inspired by the original production created for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani in 2019 Contemporary Dance 2.0 is re-imagined by Shechter II, the very best of the next generation of world-class performers aged 18-25.

“The mighty contemporary choreographer – a combination of dance-maker and rock-star, but with film-director sensibilities.” The Times

“One of the British dance scene’s hottest properties, the creator of works that are full of raw, visceral energy, set to blasting percussive scores that he composes himself.” New York Times

“There is no sitting in thoughtful contemplation at a Shechter gig. For pure, heart-pounding excitement, there is simply no one to touch him.” Daily Express

We want our shows to be as accessible to as many people as possible.

We offer tickets to most shows on a Pay What You Can basis throughout the year.

Tickets for Council Chamber performances in 2026 start at £9.50, and we have recommended pricing to help you choose a price that works for you.

We know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some. If you can afford to pay the recommended price or more, choosing to do so supports those that can’t. It makes it possible for us to continue to offer Pay What You Can and welcome those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend.

One person is suspended in air by rope bondage knot, with neon red, pink and green rope, hands crossed behind their back. The other, with their back to the camera is gently holding the first person's head and pressing their own to it, creating a warm sense of connection and safety. In the purple background various mundane objects are spun in neon macramé creating unique patterns.
