Running Time: The show will last approximately 45 min with no interval. At the end the audience are invited to leave when they’re ready or look at the objects used in the performance that will remain on stage.

This event takes place in person in our Council Chamber. Seats will be provided however audiences will have the option to stand or sit during the performance.

The body is an archive. It remembers everything – even the things that the head forgets.

Heather Agyepong’s powerful new solo performance The Body Remembers explores how trauma lives in the body, particularly for Black British women across different generations. Through a unique and compelling relationship between the audience and artist, it creates a cathartic experience.

Created & performed by multidisciplinary artist & actor Heather Agyepong, The Body Remembers features interviews of Black British women in trauma recovery. The performance is inspired by the therapeutic practice of Authentic Movement with Agyepong as The Mover and the audience as The Witness. Featuring dynamic projections and an immersive soundscape which help the audience to re-discover the power of self-reflection as the start of recovery and healing. Co-created by Imogen Knight (movement) and Gail Babb (dramaturgy), The Body Remembers creates a space for audience and artist to attend to themselves and each other.

Movement / Mindfulness
23 and 30 Oct | 1pm

Inspired by the belief that “the body holds our entire life experience,” this workshop aims to create the space for Black Women to self-reflect through the expressive arts.

Through movement, drawing, writing and discussion participants will connect to their bodies, breathe, move, and nourish themselves with ease. Participants will discover and give room to what is alive within them right now within a safe and sacred space.

No artistic or movement experience is necessary. Simply come with an open heart and the willingness to self-reflect, share, listen, connect with others, play and move.

(Please be aware that this workshop is solely a space for self-reflection. As a Tamalpa L2 Teacher Training Graduate trained in the Tamalpa Life Art Process, therapeutic tools will be used in this session but this will not be a space for art psychotherapy.)

(For Black women only with a lived experience of trauma, going through healing)

We want our shows to be as accessible to as many people as possible.

We offer tickets to most shows on a Pay What You Can basis throughout the year.

Tickets for Council Chamber performances in 2026 start at £9.50, and we have recommended pricing to help you choose a price that works for you.

We know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some. If you can afford to pay the recommended price or more, choosing to do so supports those that can’t. It makes it possible for us to continue to offer Pay What You Can and welcome those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend.

Mask wearing is required for all adult audience members whilst sat in performance spaces and when moving around our building (unless exempt).

We are offering a limited amount of socially distanced performances for most events.

Fewer tickets will be sold for these performances providing more space for audiences to be social distanced.

Socially distanced performances will be highlighted next to the dates when booking.

All performances will be Relaxed. We invite you to make yourself comfortable and if you need to leave the performance at any point you will be allowed to return to the space when you feel ready.
